Job Opportunity

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The incumbent will be responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care based on established nursing practice standards. The role requires collaboration with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care, ultimately achieving the best possible patient outcomes. The successful candidate will serve as a resource person when needed and apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education

• Completion of a nursing education program from an NLN approved institution.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

Minimum Experience

• 1 to 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience.

License, Certification, Registration

• Must be licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
• National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred.

Equipment/Tools

• Office equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine)
• Medical equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, Autoclave)

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to practice nursing in accordance with Alaska Nursing Statutes.
• Cognitive and technical knowledge to manage care across the healthcare continuum.
• Flexibility in work schedule and capability of independent actions within prescribed limits.
• Utilization of the nursing process in patient care, including the administration of treatments and medications, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and education for patients and families.
• Knowledge of AORN standards and medical terminology.
• Aptitude to work effectively in a patient care setting.

Language Skills

The candidate must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. The role involves documenting actions related to care delivery and responding to inquiries from various stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills

The candidate should have the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and be proficient in interpreting graphs and inputting information into computer systems.

Reasoning Ability

The ability to solve practical problems, handle a variety of concrete variables, and interpret various types of instructions is essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position may have supervisory responsibilities over administrative assistants, schedulers, and CSR technicians, in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.

Additional Information

• Travelers are required to show proof of completed COVID vaccinations.
• Guaranteed hours of 40 per week, with orientation starting on a Tuesday.
