Oncology Patient Representative- Cayuga Park Oncology/Hematology - Full Time- Days

Job Summary: Provides non-clinical support to all providers, the clinical staff, and patients of the Oncology Service line.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Complete accurate and timely patient registration by obtaining and verifying demographic and insurance information and ensuring all required registration documentation is collected and maintained in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Coordinate patient scheduling and provider orders including office visits, treatments, laboratory services, imaging, procedures, and outside referrals; communicate appointment details and preparation instructions to patients and ensure required orders and documentation are provided to the appropriate service location.
• Support insurance authorization processes by initiating and following up on prior authorization requirements for medications, imaging, procedures, and other ordered services and coordinating scheduling once required authorization has been obtained.
• Provide administrative and document-management support by answering and routing incoming calls, managing incoming and outgoing medical-record requests, processing mail and disability documentation, importing or scanning records into Aria, monitoring fax transmission, and obtaining records from outside providers as needed.
• Support patients, providers, and department operations by responding promptly to patient questions and concerns, assisting with appointment changes, following up with external providers and service locations, communicating relevant updates, and completing additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

Education/Experience:

• Education: Highschool diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience (minimum): 1year as a receptionist in a medical office/ clinic/or department or 2-years' experience in a related healthcare field.

Skills/Abilities:

• Requires knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies governing release of information, use of medical records and research (HIPAA, HITECH, The Common Rule); safeguards for maintaining confidentiality of protected health information; state legal reporting requirements.
• Excellent telephone skills.
• Ability to use computers and other office equipment.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Experience interacting with physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent hand and finger use (e.g., to operate a computer keyboard).
• Lifting and carrying items up to 40 lbs. (e.g., boxes, equipment, IV solutions), with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch for tasks such as retrieving items from lower shelves or filing in low drawers, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods, as the position may require.
• Capacity to operate job-related equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Location and Travel Requirements:

• Location: Onsite at Cayuga Park- 401 Cayuga Park Lane, Ithaca, NY 14850

• Shift: Five(5) 8-hour shifts per week Monday through Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm
• Travel: 25% Travel can be expected in this role to cover other locations as needed

Pay Range Disclosure:

• Standard Rate of $18.50 - $23.00 per hour
