Mobile Diesel Mechanic II

Job Overview Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – DOT Management Level Individual Contributor. Flexible work option, can work remotely within specified city, state, or region. Travel 100% of the time. Compensation: hourly base pay $32.07 – $48.13/hr; may include commission or incentive. Duties Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment using hands‑on tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Inspect, test, and road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation. Manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliations, and obtain parts from approved vendors. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre/post‑trip inspections. Document work on Repair Orders using iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application, and complete DOT forms. Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage daily schedule with high productivity. Perform work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies. Requirements High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or a higher degree with 5 years of experience). Active valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File. A valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining, or completion of DOT physical. Must be at least 21 years old. Must possess personal hand tools required for duties. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire; preferred additional ASE certifications (T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, 608/609). Skills & Abilities Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills for truck systems. Ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform repetitive tasks for long periods. Excellent communication, two‑way and written, with clients and internal teams. Good judgment, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
