About Raise The Barr
Raise The Barr is a two-generation (2Gen) organization co-founded in 2016 by former NFL linebacker Anthony Barr and his mother, Lori Barr. We work to increase economic mobility for single parent student families in Minnesota and California by tackling the practical and systemic barriers that make finishing college hard, including housing instability, financial strain, lack of social capital, and caregiving demands. Our programming brings together academic persistence, financial stability, and whole-family well-being so parents and children can thrive together. 

 

The Opportunity
This is a part-time position scheduled to work approximately 29 hours per week. The Whole Family Program Coordinator provides consistent, individualized support to single parent student families in the Sacramento region. The work centers on residents of The Huddle on Fifth, an 18-unit affordable housing community RTB co-developed in West Sacramento, where units carry a preference for single parent students enrolled in a postsecondary program and a portion are designated for survivors of physical abuse. The role also extends to RTB scholars across the region.

 

This is a building role. Sacramento is a newer site for RTB, and the person in this seat will help shape how the program takes root, which partners it works with, and how families move through it. The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Manager. 

 

What You'll Do
Resident and Family Support 

• Build trusting, consistent relationships with residents and scholar families, and work alongside them as they set and pursue goals. 
• Develop an individual service plan with each resident and revisit it regularly as needs and goals change. 
• Provide case management throughout tenancy, meeting with residents on a cadence that fits where each household is. 
• Provide trauma-informed support to survivors of violence, working closely with local advocacy and victim service partners. 
• Create peer support opportunities that give residents a setting to build connection with one another. 

Systems Navigation and Partnership 

• Help families navigate housing, childcare, public benefits, and education systems, and connect them to the resources they need. 
• Support academic persistence, career readiness, and financial stability in coordination with colleges and RTB partners. 
• Build and sustain relationships with community colleges, county agencies, and community-based organizations across the region. 
• Recruit and coordinate local volunteers and mentors to extend what RTB is able to offer families. 

Program Building and Documentation 

• Help shape program structure in a growing region, including workflows, partner pathways, and how support is delivered. 
• Maintain timely, accurate case notes and track service delivery, referrals, and participation in a form sufficient for program and funder reporting. 
• Share what you learn from families with RTB leadership, participate in team meetings, and support related projects as needed. 

What You'll Bring 

• At least 2 years supporting families experiencing poverty. Experience with single parent students, first-generation students, or adult learners is a plus. 
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent lived or professional experience. 
• Strong written and verbal communication, including clear and timely documentation, and comfort with databases, virtual platforms, and Microsoft 365. 
• Reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check and Live Scan. 
• Experience building programs, ideally in a newer site or region, and comfort with the ambiguity that comes with early stage work. 
• A natural connector who builds and sustains relationships with community partners. 
• Deeply rooted in trauma-informed care, with direct experience supporting survivors of violence against women. 
• Skilled at navigating systems of housing, childcare, and public benefits, and a strong team player in doing it. Direct affordable housing experience is welcome but not the point. 
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• California 40-hour domestic violence counselor training preferred, or willingness to complete it after hire. 

Schedule, Location & Travel
This is a part-time, hybrid position scheduled to work approximately 29 hours per week. Programming is delivered both on-site in West Sacramento and virtually, with regular time on site and in the community and the flexibility to structure the week in a way that works for residents and for you. The role includes occasional evening or weekend hours tied to resident and scholar programming, local travel throughout the region, and occasional travel for team gatherings.

Compensation and Benefits 
$34.00 - $37.00 per hour. This position is also eligible for the following benefits:
