THE ROLE

• We're hiring an Operations & Growth Manager to lead day-to-day operations across Upside. This is a hands-on role for
• someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, leads by example, helps keep standards high as we grow and is not scared of hard work.

TEAM & STAFFING

• Serve as the primary point of contact for store-level staff.
• Own staffing levels - determine when hiring is needed and lead the hiring process, including scheduling and
• conducting interviews.
• Build and manage staff schedules across all locations.
• Build strong, accountable teams across all locations.

COMPANY CULTURE

• Establish and reinforce a consistent, positive workplace culture across all locations.
• Lead by example in day-to-day interactions with staff, setting the tone for how the team operates.
• Support team morale, engagement, and retention through how stores are run day-to-day.

OPERATIONS & SYSTEMS

• Oversee day-to-day operations across all locations, ensuring consistency in service and guest experience.
• Build, update, and enforce SOPs.
• Develop opening packages for new store locations, including checklists, cash management procedures, and templates.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

• Run & Review weekly P&L and help improve store-level profitability.
• Monitor and optimize labor %, food cost, and overall efficiency across all locations.
• Identify and implement opportunities to reduce COGS, including through vendor and supplier relationships.

PRODUCT CONSISTENCY & TRAINING

• Own training materials and lead onboarding for new staff to ensure consistent product execution.
• Partner with store managers to maintain consistency in product quality and preparation standards across all locations.
• Create systems to monitor product consistency across all locations.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

• Maintain relationships with store managers and outside trades — plumbers, electricians, HV AC, and other vendors — to keep all locations fully operational and in top condition.
• Coordinate and oversee repairs, maintenance, and facility upgrades as needed.

COMPLIANCE

• Ensure all locations remain compliant with the NYC Health Code and are prepared for NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) inspections.
• Ensure at least one supervisor per location holds a valid NYC Food Protection Certificate issued by DOHMH and is on-site during all hours of operation.
• Manage NYC Food Service Establishment Permits and other required licensing across all locations.
• Maintain safety and sanitation records in line with NYC requirements.

CLEANING & SANITATION

• Design and implement new cleaning schedules and routines across all locations.
• Ensure ongoing adherence to cleaning and sanitation standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years in restaurant or multi-unit operations.
• Strong understanding of NYC DOH standards and food safety regulations.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and solve problems quickly.
• Comfortable being both hands-on in stores and organized behind the scenes.
• Experience with systems or scaling operations is a plus.
• NYC experience preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Base salary: $85,000–$95,000 annually, based on experience.
• Performance-based bonuses tied to COGS and labor % targets (~ $15,000-20,000).
