On-Call Banquet Server

Job Overview Join The Elms Hotel & Spa as a Banquet Server and help prepare, serve and clean banquet rooms for events. About Our Property The Elms Hotel & Spa is a historic gem located in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, featuring 153 guest rooms and 11,000 sq ft of versatile meeting space. This world‑class property offers a supportive and collaborative work environment with comprehensive training and opportunities for advancement. Responsibilities Set up for functions including draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, and arranging table centerpieces. Serve guests by picking up food from the back hall, carrying trays, serving food, and clearing dishes. Break down banquet rooms by bussing tables, storing linen and centerpieces, and vacuuming. Clean the back hall and organize storerooms. Set up AM or PM break stations with coffee, tea, snacks, and beverages. Assist with event room setup according to meal period and table needs. Perform food & beverage preparation duties such as condiments, brewing coffee, and stocking workstations. Serve food and beverages to guests; remove dishes, glasses, and silverware and transport them to the kitchen. Clean and sanitize tables, counters, and seats after guests finish. Explain menu items, cooking methods, and ingredients to guests. Consider special requests and dietary needs. Provide general property information and offer a warm welcome/farewell to all guests. Interact professionally with staff and assist other departments. Ensure final quality check of food and beverage items before serving. Monitor tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional service. Address any guest issue promptly with high concern. Assist other event and restaurant staff as needed. Maintain awareness of safety issues such as broken glass, frayed cords, leaks, broken locks, and suspicious persons. Qualifications Flexible availability including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 2–4 years of food service experience, preferably banquet service. Experience in a 4‑star or 5‑star venue with synchronized service. Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits. Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment. Passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests. Excellent communication skills. Compensation $7.50 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
