Coordinator, Patient Support Services

Summary The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is in search of a Coordinator, Patient Support Services to join our growing clinical team. This position will positively contribute to our patients' experience by communicating with professionalism and compassion, and serving as a liaison to the department. The Coordinator will provide clinical support by managing surgical schedules, reaching out to patients regarding referrals, pre- operative instructions, and appointments. They will work closely with departmental clinical staff, as well as partners in BCM's business office, and will regularly interact with affiliate hospital staff. Job Duties Enters and maintains patient records. Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork. Corresponds with patient's referring physician as needed. Reviews referral data and ensures all referral loops are being closed in an effective and timely manner. Provides direct administrative and scheduling support to Otolaryngology faculty. Serves as primary surgery scheduler, optimizing operating room utilization and aligning surgeon, facility, and patient. Manages calls and messages as needed. Maintains a positive patient experience. Manages and coordinates incoming patient referrals as needed. Enters orders for patient tests under direction of MD/NP/PA. Takes inventory of clinic supplies and order supplies as needed. Maintains exam room stock daily. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Two years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications A relevant degree may be considered in lieu of experience. Prior customer service experience. Surgery scheduling experience. Work Authorization Requirement This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
