Registered Nurse (RN) | Full Time | Operating Room

Shift: 6:30AM-3:00PM rotating with call Location: Singing River Ocean Springs Hospital Position Overview The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients to attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. Competency is determined by demonstrated possession of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required for this position. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services. As such, this performance evaluation is based on these standards. Education and Certifications Education: Graduate from NLN School of Nursing. License: Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi. Certifications: All RNs are required to complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. RNs working in the following specialty areas are required to complete and maintain the listed certifications: Cath Lab – ACLS Cardiac Rehab – ACLS Congestive Heart Failure – ACLS Cardiovascular Surgery – ACLS Emergency Department – ACLS, PALS, TNCC Intensive Care Units – ACLS Labor & Delivery – ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) Medical Nursing – OB/GYN - PALS Nursery – NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation) Pediatrics – PALS PACU/Recovery – ACLS, PALS RNs have 12 months, from the date they begin working in the specialty area, to acquire the appropriate certification and 18 months to acquire TNCC certification for the Emergency Department. Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days) and maintain an appropriate level of de‑escalation training. Experience A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience is preferred. Experience must be within the past five (5) years, or evidence of a successful refresher program. Reports To / Supervises Reports to: Patient Care Manager. Supervises: LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Unit Technicians. Physical Demands Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, including the human body, with negligible force. Requires repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers while operating standard office equipment such as a computer keyboard. Requires perception of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction, fine discrimination of sound, and visual acuity to adjust focus between computer monitor and printed material. Must be able to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue and adapt to schedule changes such as off days, shifts, or weekends. Mental Demands Must demonstrate keen mental faculties, assessment and decision‑making abilities, superior communication, speaking, enunciation skills for in‑person and telephone interactions, strong written communication skills, emotional stability for high‑stress levels, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, attention to detail, multitasking in complex situations, and maintain collaborative relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations. Special Demands Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must be proficient in computer use (keyboard), telephone, fax, MS Outlook, and Word.
