Patient Registrar

Job Summary: In this essential role, you will manage pre-registration and registration for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring accurate data entry and providing a hospitable experience from the moment they arrive. You will also receive specialized training to help uninsured patients navigate financial aid programs and secure necessary coverage. This position operates within a fast-paced 24/7 department, offering a steady 72-hour bi-weekly schedule (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, varying days, including every other weekend). Responsibilities Greet and register inpatients and outpatients accurately, anticipating patient needs and explaining the intake process. Secure upfront collections, calculate co-pays and co-insurance, and clearly explain financial responsibilities. Interview and screen uninsured patients to identify eligibility for state financial programs and actively assist with the application process. Navigate multiple hospital databases to enter demographic and insurance data while managing a high-volume, time-sensitive workflow. Safeguard patient information, strictly adhering to all HIPAA laws and healthcare compliance regulations. Skills & Qualifications 1+ year of medical office or high-volume healthcare facility experience (preferred). Solid understanding of health insurance processing (required) and medical terminology (preferred). computer proficiency, including Word, Excel, and the ability to seamlessly navigate multiple screens. Typing speed of 45+ WPM with excellent spelling, mathematical, and analytical skills. High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license required for occasional off-site travel. bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Mandarin is highly preferred. Ability to work a flexible evening schedule (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) based on department needs.
