Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. This role is vital in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices and check requests, supporting the financial integrity of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of accounts payable processes, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with record retention policies and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Process and pay all invoices and check requests accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to established controls and procedures.

- Provide assistance and training to other departments regarding the accounts payable process to ensure smooth operations.

- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to accounts payable transactions.

- Manage records in accordance with record retention policies and applicable laws.

- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies as needed.

- Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable.

- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve payment issues and inquiries.

- Maintain organized and secure records of all accounts payable documentation.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Proven experience in accounts payable or finance-related roles.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

- Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Understanding of record retention policies and legal compliance related to financial documentation.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional finance or accounting certifications are a plus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

• Associate degree (two-year college or technical school) required. Field of Study: Accounting, Accounts Payable or related field
• 10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or related field may be considered equivalent to a degree.

Experience:

• 5 plus years of experience in Accounts Payable or related field

Computer Skills :

• Accounting software
• 10-key proficiency
• Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook (email)
• A/P Compliance (1099s)

Other Requirements:

• Understanding in sales tax
