This role ensures high-quality programming aligned with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE), and district expectations while supporting special education staff through coaching, collaboration, and professional development. The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between schools, families, service providers, and district leadership to ensure students with disabilities receive equitable, compliant, and effective educational services. This position requiresregular travel topartner school locationsthroughout the MetroDetroit area. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree Valid Michigan TeachingCertificate with SpecialEducation endorsement(s) Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in a public school special education setting Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IndividualizedEducation Programs (IEPs) Demonstrated knowledge ofIDEA, MARSE, andstate and federalspecial education requirements Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the Metro Detroit area Preferred: Master's degree inSpecial Education, EducationalLeadership, or arelated field Administrator certificationor leadership experience Experience supervising orcoaching special education staff Experience facilitatingprofessional learning foreducators Experience coordinatingdistrict-wide specialeducation programs orinitiatives Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community agencies Key Responsibilities Provide instructional leadership, coaching, and supportto special educationstaff across multipleschool locations. Ensure compliance withIDEA, MARSE, Section504, and districtpolicies and procedures. Monitor IEP implementation, student services, documentation, and program quality. Collaborate with schoolleaders, families, serviceproviders, and communitypartners to supportstudent success. Facilitate IEP meetingsand provide guidanceon specialeducation best practices. Supervise, mentor, andevaluate special educationstaff while supportingprofessional growth. Coordinate staffing, servicedelivery, and specialeducation programming acrossassigned schools. Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of required compliance documentation. Participate in organizationalleadership initiatives,professional development, and continuous improvementefforts.
