MWR Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Fitness Director)

Overview This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Forces Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. The primary purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and administer a comprehensive, year-round fitness, recreational sports, and aquatics program, and the associated facilities used in conducting these programs. Responsibilities The role includes the planning and execution of a comprehensive fitness, aquatics, and sports program, including a variety of fitness and aquatics activities and individual and team sports. Other responsibilities include: Planning and executing fitness, aquatics, and sports programs. Managing and administering year‑round fitness, recreational sports, and aquatics program and related facilities. Developing and effectively delivering presentations and training. Developing and adapting new methods, approaches, and procedures for most effective management of a fitness program. Communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Performing supervisory duties. Preparing budgets and managing NAF/APF budgeting processes. Qualifications Knowledge and skills required include: Wide range of principles, concepts and techniques governing physical fitness programs, including exercise science, strength conditioning, nutrition, weight loss/control, cardiovascular endurance, exercise requirements and projected results. Bio‑mechanics, fitness testing, and exercise prescription, including proper procedures in the use of strength training equipment and physical fitness testing equipment. Anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as related to exercise and physical fitness. Military physical fitness standards and testing procedures. Physical and psychological factors that impact training, performance, and recovery of individuals and team sports. CNIC's EEO policy and procedures. Knowledge of safety, fire and environmental regulations and procedures. Skill in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
