Job Description

The Mass Production Parts Quality Analyst leads in-depth analysis of quality issues for mass production components, focusing on either weld or plastic suppliers. This role drives root cause analysis, coordinates supplier countermeasures, and ensures that non-conforming conditions are eliminated before they impact manufacturing operations. The analyst prepares and reviews technical quality documentation, sets technical requirements for supplier change points, and mentors team members on problem-solving methods and parts quality processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead detailed analysis of quality problems for mass production parts, including precise measurements and data review, to minimize impact on downstream manufacturing departments.

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive technical documents that clearly communicate quality problems to suppliers using the NARS Honda Trouble Report (HTR) system.

  • Present quality concerns and analysis results to suppliers and internal stakeholders to initiate effective countermeasure actions.

  • Set technical requirements for supplier part change points using the NA Change Point Control System (CPCS).

  • Evaluate and approve supplier quality documents and change point proposals before implementation in production.

  • Lead supplier Quality Assurance Visits (QAVs) to communicate quality concerns, review corrective actions, and confirm that countermeasures are implemented and effective in eliminating non-conforming conditions.

  • Perform judgment, disposition, and handling functions for non-conforming part issues, including decisions on rework, scrap, or acceptance.

  • Judge and verify the quality of parts received from suppliers to ensure they meet required specifications and standards.

  • Effectively solve quality problems using PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and other structured problem-solving methodologies.

  • Approve supplier countermeasures and supplier change points prior to production usage to ensure robust and sustainable quality improvements.

  • Conduct complex problem-solving analyses and investigations to identify root causes and prevent recurrence of quality issues.

  • Mentor and support new associates within the group on problem-solving techniques, procedures, and the parts quality function and responsibilities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

  • At least 2 years of quality engineering experience, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with quality engineering and quality assurance practices.

  • Proficiency in root cause analysis (RCCA) and structured problem-solving methods.

  • Experience with automotive quality systems and standards such as TS16949.

  • Ability to effectively use quality tools, including Fishbone diagrams, 8D methodology, 5WHY, and RCCA.

  • Practical understanding of PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).

  • Capability to judge part quality received from suppliers and make sound disposition decisions.

  • Ability to approve supplier countermeasures and change points based on technical and quality criteria.

  • Strong communication skills to prepare and present technical quality documentation to suppliers and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment or CMM data analysis.

  • Understanding of welding processes for weld supplier-focused roles.

  • Understanding of plastic injection molding for plastics supplier-focused roles.

  • Experience working in an OEM automotive or power sports manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with systems such as NARS Honda Trouble Report (HTR) and NA Change Point Control System (CPCS).

  • Ability to lead supplier Quality Assurance Visits (QAVs) and collaborate effectively with supplier quality teams.

  • Experience mentoring or training team members on quality tools, procedures, and problem-solving methods.
