Senior Estate Planning Attorney

The Opportunity We are seeking a senior estate planning attorney with substantial experience advising ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families on complex wealth transfer, tax planning, and business succession matters. This role is built for a practitioner who owns client relationships, designs creative planning structures, and delivers sophisticated counsel with precision and judgment. You will work directly with clients and collaborate with skilled paralegals and attorneys who are aligned around quality, efficiency, and results. Responsibilities Design, draft, and implement advanced estate plans for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, including irrevocable dynasty trusts (IDITs), spousal lifetime access trusts (SLATs), charitable remainder unitrusts (CRUTs), intentionally defective grantor trusts (IDGTs), irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), and grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), non-grantor trusts, etc. Develop and execute wealth transfer strategies that minimize estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax exposure Advise clients on business succession planning, including entity restructuring, buy-sell agreements, and family limited partnership and LLC strategies Counsel clients on charitable planning, including private foundations, donor-advised funds, and split-interest trusts Draft and review trust instruments, wills, powers of attorney, advance health care directives, and ancillary estate planning documents Coordinate with clients' financial advisors, CPAs, insurance professionals, and other outside advisors to implement integrated planning solutions Advise on trust administration, fiduciary duties, and post-mortem estate administration matters Communicate directly with clients and manage client relationships independently Qualifications Substantial experience in estate planning, trust, and tax law (minimum seven years preferred) California Bar admission in good standing (required) Nevada Bar admission is a plus Demonstrated experience advising ultra-high-net-worth clients on sophisticated estate and gift tax planning Proficiency with advanced trust structures including IDITs, SLATs, ILITs, CRUTs, IDGTs, GRATs, and QPRTs and non-grantor trusts Strong knowledge of federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax law Experience with business succession planning and entity structuring for wealth transfer purposes Excellent drafting, analytical, and client communication skills Ability to manage complex matters independently from inception through implementation LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning is a plus This is a hybrid role based out of the firm's Corona, California office. Attorneys work in the office when needed for client meetings, signing ceremonies, team collaboration, and similar engagements, with flexibility to work remotely when schedules allow. Billable Expectations The firm's billable model averages approximately seven billable hours per workday, with a disciplined, client-centered approach to timekeeping and service. Compensation and Benefits Base salary ranges from $230,000 to $300,000+ depending on experience. Attorneys are eligible for a monthly performance bonus.
