RN Emergency Department

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides professional nursing care to assigned patients, focusing on critical care and emergency nursing practices. The role involves triaging patients, performing focused assessments, administering medications, wound care, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure timely and effective patient care. The nurse must be licensed in Colorado, possess at least two years of critical care experience, and maintain required certifications. Strong time management and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide professional nursing care to patients in the emergency room setting.
• Triage patients and determine priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Perform focused assessments of patients' chief complaints according to established triage guidelines.
• Administer medications, take blood samples, clean and bandage wounds.
• Maintain proper supplies and ensure readiness of emergency care equipment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient care and maintain compliance with hospital policies and Nurse Practice Act.
• Manage patient flow efficiently to optimize emergency department operations.

• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Colorado.
• Minimum two years of critical care nursing experience preferred.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required upon hire.
• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) required upon hire or within 1 year.
• ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required within 6 months.
• Ability to perform clinical assessments, medication administration, and emergency nursing procedures.

• Specialty certification in emergency or critical care nursing.
• ENPC certification preferred.

• Work environment includes fast-paced emergency room with critical and trauma patients.
• Must work within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Strong time management skills required to handle patient triage and flow.

• Night shift schedule in the Emergency Department.
• Shifts assigned based on departmental needs and staffing requirements.
