About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Current nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH certifications required Must-Have: Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips. Experience in PCU/Intermediate Care/Stepdown settings. Telemetry experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Ability to use Rapid Response Teams effectively. Experience with IV insulin protocols and blood product administration. Experience with central line and peripheral line care/management. Management of PICC lines and heparin protocols. Ability to manage chest tubes and non-invasive airway management. Experience with isolation precautions. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may potentially lead to cancellation. No block scheduling available. The unit operates similarly to an ICU environment. Strong experience with intravenous drips is essential. Target patient ratios are 1:3-4. The unit accepts contracts for 13 weeks. 36 or 48 hours may be offered per week. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Patients on the unit may include those post-rapid response, in respiratory distress, with unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, and other conditions. Patients can range from adolescents to geriatric. Only one pressor drip is permitted per patient; additional titratable drips may warrant transfer to ICU. Special equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors with remote backup. Nurses must be competent in recognizing and treating dysrhythmias. Floating may be required to a sister unit as needed. No vents are available on the unit, but nurses must manage a-lines, BIPAPs, and chest tubes.
