Transportation & Insurance Defense Associate

Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP is seeking a talented and motivated Litigation Associate with 5-10 years of experience in transportation litigation and insurance defense to join our established litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will have experience with a broad range of transportation-related claims, commercial trucking and motor vehicle accidents and general liability claims. This position offers the opportunity to independently manage a diverse caseload and work closely with clients throughout all phases of litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage insurance defense and transportation litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Represent insurance carriers, third-party administrators, self-insured funds, and their insured in liability defense matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions, attend court appearances, and participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
• Evaluate liability and damages, develop litigation strategies, and provide recommendations regarding case resolution.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, claims professionals, and insurance representatives regarding case developments, exposure assessments, and litigation strategies.
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial proceedings, as appropriate.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New Jersey Bar
• 5-10 years of litigation experience, preferably in transportation litigation, insurance defense, and general liability matters
• Experience representing insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and/or self-insured entities and motion practice
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills
• Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship management skills
• New York Bar admission and trial experience are a plus

The annualized salary range for this position is $150,000-$175,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
