Postdoctoral Fellow - Discovery Oncology, Foster Lab

Opportunity A Postdoctoral fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Scott Foster in the Department of Discovery Oncology at Genentech. The focus is to answer fundamental questions related to cancer biology and cellular metabolism, particularly redox biology, and to decipher mechanistic connections underlying novel cancer cell dependencies and synthetic lethal interactions. Responsibilities Employ a diverse range of molecular and cell biology techniques to explore fundamental cancer cell biology related to cellular metabolism. Generate and analyze omics datasets to identify novel cancer cell dependencies and synthetic lethal interactions. Collaborate with scientists across disciplines to accelerate research progress and integrate interdisciplinary knowledge. Present research findings internally and externally, and contribute to publications. Participate in mentorship and career development opportunities within Genentech’s Postdoctoral Program. Qualifications Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field. Proven research track record with at least one first‑author publication in a high‑impact journal (published or accepted). Hands‑on experience in cancer cell biology and cellular metabolism. Expertise in a broad range of molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques, including generating large omic data sets. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with scientists from different disciplines to bring projects to completion. Excellent communication and writing skills; strong passion for science and cancer cell biology. Preferred Qualifications Experience with in vivo mouse models. Computational skills for analyzing and interpreting high‑dimensional data. Salary and Benefits The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California, is $100,000 to $106,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job‑related factors permitted by law. Relocation benefits are available.
