Job Description
Embark on an impactful contract opportunity delivering essential communication access in an educational environment. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you’ll collaborate closely with a dynamic support team focused on students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, sharing the classroom with other specialized staff dedicated to student success.
This position offers full-time hours, with assignments commencing August 24, 2026, and extending through July 15, 2027. Exact caseload details are yet to be finalized and will be tailored to individual strengths, preferences, and home location for optimal placement. What You Bring:
- Valid national or state certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working in educational settings or with Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations
- Strong collaboration skills for teaming with DHH professionals and classroom support staff
- Ability to adapt to a range of communication and interpreting needs
- Professional references and a current résumé (required prior to interviewing)
- Flexibility as assignments vary based on school placement
Your Role:
- Provide real-time interpreting services in classroom, small-group, and individual settings
- Foster understanding and engagement by ensuring clear communication among students, staff, and families
- Collaborate with DHH and educational teams to modify or enhance service as needed
- Support inclusive learning environments and uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Participate in team meetings and professional development as requested
