The group is focused on strengthening trade finance workflows, improving processing accuracy, and modernizing the systems that support Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections.

Engagement: W2 only (no C2C/1099)

This six-month consulting opportunity offers direct involvement in trade finance operations, process improvement, and platform enhancement initiatives. The position is fully onsite in Jersey City, New Jersey, and provides exposure to complex trade structures, syndicated Letters of Credit, testing activities, and cross-functional change initiatives.

How You Will Make An Impact

• Analyze end-to-end Import and Export Letter of Credit and Documentary Collection processes to identify operational gaps, control weaknesses, and efficiency opportunities.
• Support Letter of Credit issuance, advising, confirmation, settlement, financing, amendment, and related processing activities.
• Review and enhance operational workflows to improve accuracy, turnaround times, risk controls, and service delivery.
• Partner with technology, product, and operations teams on trade finance system enhancements and process automation.
• Prepare test cases and execute quality assurance and user acceptance testing for new functionality and platform updates.
• Investigate testing defects, document findings, and coordinate issue resolution with business and technology stakeholders.
• Ensure operational processes align with UCP, URC, ISBP, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain standard operating procedures, process maps, user guides, and other operational documentation.
• Support invoicing, advance and arrears commission processing, daily accruals, and transaction-related reconciliations.
• Provide operational support for syndicated Letters of Credit and other complex trade finance structures.
• Produce operational reporting and data-driven insights that support management decisions and performance improvements.
• Assist with change management, stakeholder communications, and user training related to new systems and procedures.

Do You Bring Proven Success in Trade Finance Operations and Process Improvement?

• Bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Approximately 10 or more years of relevant operations, banking, or trade finance experience is preferred for this senior-level assignment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting Trade Finance Operations, including Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections.
• Strong working knowledge of Import and Export Letters of Credit, including issuance, advising, confirmation, settlement, financing, and commissions.
• Practical understanding of ICC rules, including UCP, URC, and ISBP.
• Experience analyzing operational processes, mapping workflows, and identifying process or control improvements.
• Hands-on experience preparing test cases and participating in QA and UAT for financial services or trade finance platforms.
• Familiarity with syndicated Letters of Credit, complex trade structures, or transaction banking operations is highly desirable.
• Experience with invoicing, commission processing, daily accruals, reconciliations, or related operational accounting activities.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, risk awareness, and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across operations, product, and technology teams.
• Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists certification is an advantage but is not required.
