Tax Director

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tax Director to lead complex tax engagements, provide strategic tax planning, and oversee a team of tax professionals. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in partnership and corporate taxation, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage high-value client relationships across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of complex tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120-S, K-1, and 1040 .

• Provide technical expertise in:

  • Cost segregation studies

  • 1031 exchanges

  • Section 163(j) interest limitation rules

  • Section 704(b) target allocation rules

  • Allocation of recourse and non-recourse debt

  • Section 754 basis step-up elections

  • Multi-state tax compliance and planning

• Manage client relationships, including clients with multiple entities and complex organizational structures.

• Supervise, mentor, and develop Tax Managers and Tax Seniors.

• Oversee engagement planning, budgeting, billing, and overall engagement profitability.

• Deliver proactive tax planning strategies, tax projections, and specialized consulting projects requiring analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

• Communicate with federal, state, and local tax authorities regarding filings, notices, and tax-related matters as needed.

• Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant tax filings while maintaining exceptional client service.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in public accounting with a focus on complex tax engagements.

• Strong technical knowledge of partnership, S corporation, and individual taxation.

• Proven expertise in cost segregation studies, 1031 exchanges, Section 163(j), Section 704(b), Section 754, and multi-state tax matters.

• Demonstrated leadership experience managing and mentoring tax professionals.

• Excellent client relationship management, communication, and presentation skills.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management abilities.

• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation required or strongly preferred.

• Experience managing high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, and closely held businesses.

• Strong background in tax planning, consulting, and client advisory services.
