Location: Washington, D.C. (U Street Corridor) Position: Full-Time Lead Cook (Manage a team of 3) Shift: Afternoon Start Date: Immediate About Us
Located in the heart of the vibrant U Street corridor, our restaurant brings the rich, bold flavors of West Africa to life. We are a passionate, growing family business dedicated to creating exceptional culinary experiences for our guests. As we expand, we are looking for a talented Lead cook to grow with us, collaborate directly with the leadership team, and help shape our brand and kitchen culture. The Role
Working closely with the Chef (Owner), you will play a crucial role in our fast-paced kitchen. We are looking for an experienced cook who can confidently manage a team of 3, the grill, and sauté stations, while bringing passion and creativity to the kitchen. Key Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 3, and execute high-quality dishes at the grill and sauté stations. Collaborate with the Chef/Sous Chef to maintain kitchen efficiency and uphold high culinary standards. Contribute creative ideas to enhance our existing menu and develop exciting new dishes. Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications consistently. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized station while adhering to all food safety regulations. What We Are Looking For
Experience: Proven experience in a fast-paced kitchen (casual or fine dining preferred). Station Mastery: Strong foundational skills on the grill and sauté stations. Certifications: ServSafe Food Manager Certificate. Team Player: Excited to be part of a tight-knit, small family business. Creativity: Passionate about cooking and eager to create memorable culinary experiences for our guests. Communication: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively under pressure.
