About the team

About the team: The Reliability Engineering Platform team develops and maintains enterprise-scale systems that enhance operational reliability and efficiency across Walmart’s technology infrastructure. Focusing on distributed systems, observability, and resiliency automation, the team delivers scalable solutions that reduce systemic risk and provide real-time insights across microservices and multi-region Kubernetes clusters. Team members collaborate to design, implement, and support robust platforms using advanced engineering practices and continuous development. Their work ensures high availability and performance of critical systems, supporting Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and innovation in technology delivery.

What you’ll do

What you’ll do: Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities. Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance. Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems. Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices. Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and intelligent automation features. Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence. Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics. Continuously improve processes, tools, and products through innovation and feedback integration.

What you’ll bring

What you’ll bring: Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems. Strong experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance. Proficiency in conducting system design reviews and applying software design patterns to deliver secure, maintainable, and modular solutions. Demonstrated ability in API design, software prototyping, and driving engineering excellence through remedial action and continuous improvement. Skilled in data-driven decision making to define success metrics and optimize development processes. Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions to promote long-term sustainability and standardization.

Salary and Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
