Details Acute care setting in a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic telemetry unit Patient population includes MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, thoracic and lung surgery patients, esophagectomy, and general medicine overflow Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights PCT support available with ratios of 1:8-9 days, 1:9-10 evenings, and 1:10-12 nights 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage on the unit Dedicated tele/monitor techs on staff, though RNs must be able to read and interpret their own strips using Phillips monitors EPIC EMR used for charting 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0700-1930 Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday) Holiday rotation required including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day No call or standby requirements Floating to other general medical units required Requirements Active IL RN license required (or confirmation that application process has been initiated) BLS (AHA) certification required ACLS certification recommended Minimum 2 years of RN experience required EKG interpretation skills required Medication titration experience required, including Cardizem and heparin drips Proficiency in basic nursing skills required Negative drug screen required for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy Additional Information Responsible for titrating drips including Cardizem and heparin Provide care involving chest tubes and post-surgical monitoring for thoracic and lung surgery patients May manage CPAP/BiPAP for patients on home regimens, with heated high flow used only in special circumstances Unit/department orientation typically consists of one shift or partial shift, depending on prior OSF facility experience Scrubs may be any color but must avoid children's or cartoon-type prints as this is an adult unit Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility American Traveler Job ID P-749752.
