Our team is driven by excellence, integrity, and a passion for advancing aerospace technology.Take the next step in your career with a company committed to excellence, where your contributions are recognized, and your potential is realized.Role OverviewThe CNC 5 Axis Milling Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC 5-axis mills, high speed 5-axis routers, and/or lathes to produce high-quality machined components in an AS9100 manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of independently performing complex machining operations while maintaining quality, accuracy, and production standards. This role requires strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, blueprint interpretation, tooling, inspection methods, and the ability to troubleshoot and support continuous improvement efforts.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC machines to produce parts using work orders, blueprints, materials, and specifications.Interpret job instructions including CNC programs, setup sheets, tool lists, job routings, part drawings, and in-process quality instructions.Select appropriate tool holders, cutting tools, and fixtures and properly load them into the machine.Load CNC programs into machine controls, including establishing zero and reference points and entering tool lengths and offsets.Ensure proper lubrication and cooling of work pieces during machining operations.Perform machine setups and inspect completed parts to verify accuracy and quality requirements.Complete first article machining runs and make necessary offsets or collaborate with programming teams on modifications based on inspection results.Provide recommendations to improve productivity, equipment utilization, tooling, and machining processes.Perform equipment preventative maintenance activities and maintain documentation of completed actions.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Follow Hera safety protocols and OSHA/Cal OSHA safety regulations.Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).Five (5) years of experience operating 3–5 axis HAAS mills, DMS, BIESSE, and/or Thermwood routers.Experience working in an AS9100 manufacturing environment preferred.Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.Knowledge of various cutting tools, tooling applications, and machining processes.Knowledge of CNC HAAS, Fanuc, and SIEMENS controls.Ability to interpret work orders, manufacturing instructions, and production documentation.Strong shop math skills.Ability to use standard measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and other inspection equipment.Preferred QualificationsExperience machining composites, honeycomb, plastics, and metallic materials using 3–5 axis equipment.Experience machining composites using dry machining processes and metallic materials with coolant.Experience operating conventional mills, lathes, and hand tools.Ability to fabricate and modify fixtures.Experience supporting process improvements and troubleshooting machining issues.Additional RequirementsMust have professional working proficiency reading, writing, and speaking EnglishAbility to work in office, lab, and manufacturing environments with occasional exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, industrial equipment, and temperature variationsAbility to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer workstationFrequent use of hands and fingers for data entry, keyboarding, and mouse useAbility to view computer screens for prolonged periodsAbility to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via emailAbility to use a computer to complete assignmentsJob DetailsType : Full Time – Non - ExemptHours: 2nd Shift – 02:30 PM – 10:30 PM – Monday through Friday Schedule and overtime may vary based on business needsBase Salary Range: $24 - $29 per hour DOE BaseLocation: Ontario, CA - 100% onsite .Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Total compensation will also include a comprehensive set of benefits including but not limited to: Company paid employee medical, dental and vision insurance. 401K company match (eligibility required), paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid holidays and discretionary bonuses.EXPORT CONTROL REQUIREMENTS: To conform to US Government export regulations, the applicant must be a (i) US Citizen, (ii) lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (aka green card holder), (iii) protected individual as defined by U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or (iv) eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.Canopy A&D is an Equal Opportunity Employer, employment with Canopy A&D is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.
