Senior Project Manager (Construction)

CIVIL ENGINEER - 20215 Hours: Full time – 35 hours. Work location: 777 Third Ave, New York, NY 10017; other: 30-30 Thomson Ave, LIC, Queens 11101. Responsibilities Managing complex capital commitment projects, reviewing proposed projects to determine how and when the work should be performed; working with Sponsor Agencies to ensure an understanding of project scope; overseeing projects from conception, through design development, to construction completion and project close‑out. Reporting to the Program Executive and coordinating with BBJ Program Management Consultant (PMC), Design‑Builders, regulatory entities/agencies, and DDC. Supervise, coordinate, and direct project construction management and construction staff; appraise the Program Executive of any issues with scheduling, cost, and construction; liaise among stakeholders. Additional duties include maintaining comprehensive project history files, helping coordinate project schedules, addressing construction and design issues, reviewing change orders, and reviewing project correspondence and reports. Also responsible for utilizing agency’s technical resources to ensure that projects meet the Agency’s Commitment Plan objectives. Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of full‑time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work. A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License; current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained throughout employment. A master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university, accredited by a recognized accrediting body, may be substituted for one year of the civil engineering experience required above. Special Note To be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project. Preferred Skills At least six years of experience working with complex construction project management, schedule management, and cost management.
