Portfolio Manager - Insurance, Institutional Client Group

Manage an assigned portfolio of insurance clients within Institutional Client Group Analyze and underwrite new and existing credit relationships in the insurance sector Prepare credit approval memoranda, annual reviews, renewals, amendments, and portfolio monitoring deliverables Evaluate borrower performance, industry trends, capital structures, and key credit risks Make independent credit recommendations Monitor covenant compliance and ongoing portfolio performance Support new business origination through financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction evaluation Partner with Relationship Managers on client and prospect opportunities, client meetings, industry conferences, and relationship strategy discussions Develop expertise in credit structures, credit documentation, and risk mitigation techniques Build expertise across life insurance, property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, brokerage, and specialty insurance Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk Managers, Loan Capital Markets, Derivatives, and other stakeholders Contribute to portfolio strategy, business development initiatives, and process improvement Requirements Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience Eight or more years of relevant experience Extensive knowledge of commercial and corporate lending, credit standards, policies, procedures, and products Strong relationship management and business development skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills Experience analyzing corporate or institutional credit exposures Strong financial statement analysis and credit underwriting skills Knowledge of or interest in developing expertise within the insurance industry Ability to evaluate financial performance, industry dynamics, and complex credit structures Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team environment Demonstrated intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and willingness to take on increasing responsibility Ability to work three (3)+ days per week in one of the listed U.S. Bank hub locations Ability to comply with U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies Applicants must meet applicable employment eligibility verification requirements Core Competencies Demonstrates extensive knowledge in credit analysis, underwriting, and risk mitigation within the insurance sector, while effectively managing client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.
