Senior Manager / Director Payroll

KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting has partnered with a growing publicly traded life sciences organization seeking a Senior Manager / Director of Payroll on a consulting basis. This is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership role and oversee North American payroll operations for a rapidly expanding global company. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this position will be responsible for managing U.S. and Canadian payroll operations, ensuring compliance, improving processes, and overseeing payroll staff. Key Responsibilities Manage and process multi-state U.S. payroll for 300+ employees Oversee Canadian payroll operations Supervise payroll team members and support international payroll activities Process equity-related payroll transactions, bonuses, and terminations Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations Manage payroll tax filings, payments, reconciliations, and issue resolution Support quarterly and year-end payroll activities Partner with HR, Finance, Benefits, and external providers to ensure accurate payroll processing Assist with audits, including retirement plan and workers' compensation audits Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries Identify and implement payroll process improvements Prepare payroll reporting and analytics as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred 8+ years of progressive payroll experience Strong multi-state payroll experience required Experience processing Canadian payroll preferred Experience with equity compensation payroll (RSUs, stock plans, etc.) preferred Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance and regulations Experience with ADP Workforce Now or comparable payroll systems Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups, formulas, and PivotTables Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Hybrid - In office 2 days/week Compensation: $60 - $75/HR #J-18808-Ljbffr KBW Financial Staffing & Recruiting
