Electrical Sales Engineer The successful candidate will evaluate customer requirements, develop technical and commercial proposals, identify project risks, and help position engineered power solutions in a competitive market. Depending on experience, this individual may support pursuits under direction, independently manage quotation opportunities, lead strategic bids, mentor team members, and provide subject-matter expertise on applications and commercial strategy. Key Responsibilities Review customer specifications, drawings, bid documents, and project requirements. Develop accurate technical and commercial proposals. Coordinate pricing, supplier quotations, and cost information from internal departments. Prepare quotation packages, pricing recommendations, and supporting documentation. Track proposal schedules, deadlines, and submission requirements. Identify project assumptions, exclusions, technical concerns, and commercial risks. Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Operations. Support the transition of awarded projects from the proposal stage into execution. Participate in process improvement efforts related to quoting, proposals, and commercial practices. Help establish consistent proposal standards, templates, and best practices. Maintain a strong understanding of medium-voltage power distribution equipment and applications. Apply applicable industry standards and customer requirements when preparing solutions. Assist customers and internal teams in identifying technically sound and commercially competitive options. Provide technical guidance to sales and marketing personnel. Help communicate product capabilities, compliance, differentiators, and customer value. Serve as a technical and commercial resource during active pursuits. Participate in customer meetings, presentations, negotiations, and bid discussions. Respond to technical and pricing-related questions. Support strategic account development and customer relationship efforts. Evaluate opportunities based on technical fit, profitability, risk, and strategic importance. Recommend pricing approaches and competitive positioning strategies. Analyze market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity. Support bid reviews, opportunity assessments, and pursuit strategy discussions. Monitor industry developments and identify potential growth opportunities. Provide market feedback that may support product planning and portfolio development. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant experience within the electrical power industry. Working knowledge of electrical power distribution systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams. Strong analytical, organizational, and business decision‑making skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Experience with medium‑voltage switchgear, transformers, substations, or related power distribution equipment. Understanding of power system protection principles and ANSI device functions. Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, IEC, UL, utility, EPC, and customer‑specific requirements. Experience using CRM, ERP, or quotation management systems. Background in proposal development, technical sales, product marketing, or product management. Experience in manufacturing, engineered‑to‑order, or custom equipment environments.
