This role begins as a 3-to-6-month contract, which allows time to confirm it's a strong fit before a long-term commitment is made. It's a genuine contract-to-hire opportunity: the right person who does strong work and meshes well with the team has a real path to a permanent position. Conversion can't be guaranteed up front, but a candidate who does well in the role has a good chance of being brought on full-time.

This role supports a company in the aerospace / defense sector and due to the work involved with would interface with the federal government. This requires candidates to be U.S. Citizens. Candidates who are permanent residents (Green Card Holders) or currently hold work authorization through F1-CPT, F1-OPT, H-1B, TN, or other temporary visa classifications are not eligible for this role. Due to the nature of the work and federal contractor requirements, offers may be contingent upon successfully completing a background check and drug screening, which may include testing for cannabis. There are no exceptions to this requirement, including for medical marijuana cardholders.

Fort Lauderdale, FL (on site role at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport).

$25.00/hr to start (this will go up over time). Overtime will be paid at 1.5x for any time worked over 40 hours.

  • Available (health insurance, dental, vision, 401k, etc) benefits will begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.
  • This role will have 5 days PTO (which accrue over time). When converting to direct here, there will be significantly more PTO.

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a company that builds gate and ground support equipment for the aviation industry from aircraft tugs and cargo loaders to deicers and passenger boarding bridges keeping airports, airlines, and ground handlers running smoothly across the globe

We are seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Administrative Assistant (Payroll, HR Support) to support daily office operations within a fast-paced airport environment. This role serves as a key administrative resource, providing support across customer service, payroll, human resources, work order coordination, reporting, and general office administration.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, working in a dynamic operational environment, and interacting with employees, customers, and leadership on a daily basis. Strong organizational skills, payroll experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel are essential for success in this role.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Support daily office operations under the direction of the Site Manager.
  • Maintain records, files, and administrative documentation.
  • Order office supplies, materials, and equipment as needed.
  • Ensure office operations run efficiently and effectively.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and service requests.
  • Answer incoming calls and provide professional customer support.
  • Coordinate customer service requests with operational staff.
  • Track, monitor, and update work orders within company systems.
  • Ensure timely communication between customers and site personnel.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify payroll information and identify discrepancies.
  • Monitor employee leave balances and attendance records.
  • Assist with employee onboarding activities, including:
    • New hire paperwork
    • Orientation coordination
    • Training scheduling
    • Airport badging requirements
  • Respond to basic HR-related questions and escalate concerns when appropriate.
  • Track, analyze, and report spending and billing information.
  • Assist with administrative reporting and data management.
  • Support financial recordkeeping and operational reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Support compliance with required training programs and airport regulations.
  • Maintain eligibility for airport security clearance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required at a minimum (higher level education is welcome but not required).
  • Previous payroll experience.
  • Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong data entry and administrative support experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee and payroll information.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous administrative experience in an airport, aviation, transportation, logistics, or service environment.
  • Experience supporting HR, payroll, or office management functions.
  • Experience working with work order management systems.
  • Familiarity with employee onboarding and orientation processes.

1st (day) shift position. This role will generally work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. There may be occasional (but not frequent) overtime. Any OT (over 40 hours) will be paid at 1.5x. An offer may be contingent on passing a background check and drug screen (drug screen would include Cannabis no exceptions, eg: for a medical card).
