Nurse Practitioner

*Position Summary*

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and highly skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing nephrology practice. The NP will work collaboratively with nephrologists and the interdisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, and dialysis-related conditions. This position includes outpatient clinic responsibilities and may include inpatient consultations and dialysis rounding based on practice needs. Nephrology experience preferred, but not required.

*Essential Responsibilities*

* Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations.
* Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), acute kidney injury (AKI), hypertension, electrolyte abnormalities, glomerular diseases, and other renal disorders.
* Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans.
* Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic test results.
* Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements.
* Monitor patients receiving hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
* Participate in dialysis rounding and coordinate care with dialysis center staff.
* Manage anemia, mineral and bone disorders, fluid balance, and other complications associated with kidney disease.
* Provide patient and family education regarding disease management, medications, nutrition, dialysis options, and lifestyle modifications.
* Collaborate with nephrologists, primary care providers, specialists, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and case managers to coordinate care.
* Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR).
* Review and respond to laboratory results, patient messages, medication refill requests, and urgent clinical issues.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
* Maintain licensure, including DEA, State Medical License, CPR, and other required licenses in all states where Piedmont Nephrology & Hypertension Associates, P.A. practices.
* Maintain continuing education training to support your license.
* Work with practice manager, credentialing coordinator, and other office staff as needed in a timely manner for obtaining and maintaining insurance credentialing, hospital privileges, and dialysis center privileges.

*Qualifications*

*Required*

* Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
* Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
* National board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), as appropriate.
* Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
* Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.

*Preferred*

* One or more years of experience in nephrology, internal medicine, hospital medicine, or primary care.
* Experience caring for patients with chronic kidney disease or dialysis.
* Familiarity with electronic health records.
* ACLS certification (if inpatient responsibilities are included).

*Knowledge and Skills*

* Strong understanding of chronic kidney disease management.
* Knowledge of hypertension treatment guidelines.
* Ability to interpret renal laboratory studies and diagnostic testing.
* Understanding of dialysis therapies and associated complications.
* Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.

*Work Environment*

* Outpatient nephrology clinic.
* May include hospital consultations and dialysis center rounding.
* Monday through Friday schedule, with shared call responsibilities if applicable.
* Occasional travel between practice locations and dialysis centers may be required.
* Spirit of teamwork among providers and staff.

*Physical Requirements*

* Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
* Ability to use standard office and medical equipment.
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
