PAYROLL CLERK I

Position Overview Payroll Clerk I will be responsible for various time and attendance functions including completion of daily time collection and reporting, expense processing, and maintaining employee profile data. Candidates must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills to present and explain payroll information to employees. Essential Functions Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data. Processes per diem and mileage charges. Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information. Inputs data into the accounting system with accuracy. Verifies timekeeping records and consults employees about any discrepancies. Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests. Updates employee banking records when necessary to process payments accurately. Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures. Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Qualifications High attention to detail and accuracy. Customer service oriented with strong problem‑solving skills. Positive attitude, especially when working under pressure in stressful situations. Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision. Proactive team member with strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with team members to achieve established objectives. Ability to achieve goals and perform work in a timely, accurate and complete manner. Willingness to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks. Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Excel (filtering, pivot tables, advanced functions, etc.). Education Associate degree preferred but not required. Minimum of 3‑5 years of payroll experience. Experience with Paylocity and Dynamics preferred, but not required. Competencies Analyzing information. Data entry skills. Attention to details. Confidentiality. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Work Environment and Physical Demands Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Frequent sitting and operating a computer. Must be able to use bodily members to work, move or carry objects or office materials. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
