Cybersecurity Engineer (Hybrid – St. Louis Area)

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to join our growing cybersecurity team. This role is ideal for someone with strong IT fundamentals who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys digging into security events and platform issues, and takes pride in delivering a high level of service to clients.

This is a hybrid position, with a mix of remote and in-office work in the St. Louis area.

What You'll Do

As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will administer and support the cybersecurity platforms that protect ThrottleNet and our clients, and play a key role in maintaining and improving the security of client environments.

• Assist in administering and maintaining cybersecurity platforms including EDR, ITDR, SIEM, PAM, and SAT.
• Provide cybersecurity product support and assistance to our internal team and clients as needed
• Work with platform vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cybersecurity tooling
• Lead and assist with cybersecurity investigations across various operating systems and cloud platforms
• Participate in incident response activities as needed.
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding of clients as it pertains to our cybersecurity stack
• Perform cybersecurity validation checks, audits, and access reviews
• Assist with onboarding and offboarding of ThrottleNet employees as it relates to systems access
• Assist in ThrottleNet compliance efforts and audits by gathering evidence, creating documentation, and completing other compliance related tasks
• Build documentation and guides for configuring various platforms to ThrottleNet cybersecurity standards
• Identify recurring issues and contribute to long-term solutions, automation, and process improvements

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in systems administration, IT support, or a related technical role, with hands-on exposure to security tooling
• Strong IT fundamentals, including networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs) and Windows Server administration (Active Directory, Group Policy, and permissions)
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills across Windows, Microsoft 365, and cloud environments
• Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, including MFA and Conditional Access
• Working understanding of core security concepts such as least privilege, phishing and business email compromise, malware behavior, and vulnerability management
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and recurring tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and documentation skills with the ability to explain technical and security concepts to non-technical users
• A professional, positive demeanor and a commitment to delivering excellent service
• Trustworthiness and discretion when handling sensitive information and privileged access

What Sets You Apart

• Experience working in an MSP environment
• Hands-on experience with EDR, ITDR, SIEM, PAM, web protection, email security, or security awareness training platforms
• Experience with RMM tools and PSA systems
• Experience supporting compliance programs or audits such as SOC 2, CMMC, HIPAA, or CIS Controls
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or Network+, or Microsoft SC-900 or SC-200
• PowerShell scripting or automation experience
• Passion for continuous learning and professional growth
