Accounting Manager

About the Role

This is a hands-on, generalist accounting role at a fast-scaling AI-hardware company, and our first dedicated accounting hire. Reporting to the Controller, you will work across the full accounting cycle - from journal entries to reconciliations and reporting schedules.

You will prepare the work across AP, T&E, payroll and lease accounting, fixed assets, and the general ledger. It suits someone who wants range and wants to see how a complete accounting function gets built. The ideal candidate combines solid accounting fundamentals with a builder's mindset.

What You'll Do

Month-End Close and General Accounting

• Prepare month-end and quarter-end close activities - journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and amortization schedules
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and month-over-month flux analysis, with clear written explanations of drivers for the Controller
• Prepare payroll accounting and lease accounting entries and their supporting schedules
• Prepare fixed asset accounting - capitalization, depreciation, and asset verification per accounting policies
• Prepare accounting for hardware-specific areas alongside the Controller - lab and tooling spend, mask set costs, NRE and prepaid arrangements, and multi-currency transactions and revaluation

Accounts Payable and Credit cards

• Manage the AP cycle in Ramp - invoice intake, coding, approval routing, three-way match against POs and receipts, and payment runs
• Partner with Supply Chain and Procurement on PO matching, receipts, and invoice discrepancies - and be the person who chases them down
• Serve as the primary contact for vendor inquiries and payment status, and keep those relationships smooth
• Prepare 1099 filings and the supporting vendor documentation
• Support the travel and expense program: expense report review, corporate card , policy compliance, and employee support
• Prepare T&E accruals and card reconciliations, and flag policy exceptions to the Controller

Audit, Controls and Systems

• Prepare audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules, and be a key contributor to the year-end audit and financial statement preparation
• Follow and help strengthen the internal control environment, and help build processes that scale with the growth and complexity of the business
• Collaborate with the Controller on the chart of accounts, accounting policies, and documented desktop procedures, and help keep them current as the business changes

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on accounts payable and month-end close, ideally at a high-growth company
• Working knowledge of US GAAP, and comfort preparing reconciliations and schedules that stand up to review
• Hands-on with an ERP or accounting system (NetSuite, QuickBooks, or equivalent) and the surrounding stack (Ramp, Rippling, Bill.com, Navan, Expensify, or similar)
• Strong Excel skills and comfort reconciling high transaction volume accurately
• Detail-oriented and organized, with ownership of your close deadlines
• Practical interest in applying AI and automation to accounting work
• (Optional) CPA, CPA-track, or public accounting experience
• (Optional) Hardware, manufacturing, or semiconductor industry background

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certifications.


California pay range

$150,000-$210,000 USD

Compensation

Final offers depend on level, location, and skills relevant to the role. Additional compensation: equity grant per company guidelines; medical / dental / vision; 401(k); standard PTO.
