Tile Installation Manager

Position Overview

The Tile Installation Manager is responsible for overseeing tile installation projects from scheduling through final completion, ensuring every job meets quality standards, client expectations, and timeline commitments. This role is the operational bridge between field crews and the rest of the business, coordinating 1099 subcontractors, communicating with project managers and superintendents, and keeping clients informed throughout the process. The right person leads with accountability, communicates proactively, and takes ownership of the outcome.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Crew Coordination

• Schedule and coordinate 1099 subcontractor crews to ensure efficient project sequencing and resource utilization across active jobs
• Coordinate material procurement, staging, and delivery timelines with the warehouse and purchasing team to prevent project delays
• Review project specifications, scopes of work, and drawings prior to installation kickoff to ensure crews are fully briefed before mobilizing
• Conduct pre-installation substrate assessments, identifying flatness, moisture, or adhesion concerns before work begins
• Hold subcontractor crews accountable to performance, quality, and schedule standards; address issues promptly and professionally

Quality & Field Oversight

• Conduct regular site visits throughout the project lifecycle to monitor workmanship and identify issues before they escalate
• Provide technical guidance to installers on proper tile-setting techniques, industry standards, and company best practices
• Inspect completed work against project specs and punch lists before final sign-off
• Manage warranty and callback work; ensuring timely, professional resolution of any installation deficiencies
• Ensure all job sites operate in compliance with safety regulations and company standards

Communication & Documentation

• Communicate proactively with superintendents, project managers, and the sales team to resolve installation issues and prevent delays
• Serve as a professional and solutions-oriented point of contact for clients during the active installation phase
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation including project progress reports, inspection records, and invoicing
• Participate in pre-construction meetings and project handoffs from the sales team
• Flag job cost variances and subcontractor scheduling conflicts early so corrective action can be taken before project close

Qualifications

Preferred — not required

• Tile installation and/or flooring industry experience
• Familiarity with TCNA (Tile Council of North America) installation standards
• Experience reading blueprints, floor plans, and project specifications
• Previous supervisory or management experience in flooring, construction, or a related trade
• Experience managing 1099 subcontractors or independent crews

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license in good standing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to kneel and work on active job sites
• Ability to learn additional software platforms
