Regional Medical Scientific Director (aka Medical Science Liaison) Immunology - GI (Mid-Atlantic States)

Merck seeks a credentialed Medical Science Liaison for the Mid-Atlantic region to serve as a scientific expert in inflammatory bowel disease immunology. The role involves bidirectional scientific exchange with healthcare leaders, support for clinical research initiatives, and representation at medical congresses.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with scientific leaders through peer-to-peer scientific discussions
• Address scientific inquiries and direct out-of-scope questions to appropriate company resources
• Support investigator-sponsored research through scientific merit evaluation and alignment assessment
• Identify study sites, recommend investigators, and conduct site initiation visits for clinical trials
• Gather scientific insights and feedback to inform company understanding of healthcare leader and patient needs

Requirements

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD degree required
• 3+ years of immunology and inflammatory bowel disease experience beyond terminal degree
• Doctoral-level scientific discussion and communication abilities
• Knowledge of FDA, OIG, HIPAA regulations and pharmaceutical industry guidelines
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms
• Strong stakeholder management and networking skills
• Ability to travel up to 50% within Mid-Atlantic territory; residency required
