Director, Business Operations & Strategy

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Director, Business Operations and Strategy to join our Business Operations Team. Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. The Director, Business Operations builds the long-term operational roadmap and strategically tackles organizational challenges with rigor and tact. This role is a steward of process and sets a high operational bar with cross‑functional stakeholders. You will be a connector of leadership communications across the company, specific to the business process optimization and projects it supports. You will manage the execution of highly visible projects that ensure the success of cross‑functional teams across Oscar. Additionally, you'll be a bridge between the People team and the business, partnering on organizational structure and change management to enable continued high‑performance and organizational success. You will report into the SVP, Network and Provider Management. Work Location: This position is based in our New York office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in‑office work per week. Thursdays are a required in‑office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $180,504 – $236,911 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses. Responsibilities Interdisciplinary expertise in Oscar's core priorities and objectives Using a cross‑functional lens and subject‑matter expertise, drive end‑to‑end operational excellence. This involves measuring, monitoring, and executing to reduce operational and financial risk. The goal is to ensure efficient, repeatable processes leading to a sound program. Lead large, multiple cross‑functional work groups that support and optimize end‑to‑end program process while improving visibility into internal processes Leverage subject‑matter expertise to drive targeted program standardization, operationalization, and issue resolution and/or root‑cause analysis efforts while collaborating with key internal stakeholders to optimize efficiency, including training resources and other key process decisions Develop, present, and maintain executive reporting materials to educate, inform, and update senior leadership teams on programs, projects, and strategic contracting initiatives Apply subject‑matter expertise in methodologies, major terms, and associated operations required for program execution Identify risks and improvement opportunities to develop and implement new programs Maintain pulse on external trends and industry benchmarking to drive iterative solutions that support the evolving business Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations Other duties as assigned Requirements 10+ years of experience in an operations, business strategy, or project management role 4+ years of experience in a high‑growth environment Critical thinking, evaluating and synthesizing information to action Excellent communication, providing clarity and confidence to key stakeholders Experience leading large‑scale cross‑functional initiatives Bonus points Management consulting experience 4+ years of managing a team Travel required Up to 5% At Oscar, being an Equal Opportunity Employer means more than upholding discrimination‑free hiring practices.
