Pathology Physician

Locums - Rockford, Illinois - Pathologist Job

• Seeking a board certified or truly board eligible pathologist

• PTO coverage assignment with possibility for additional future dates

• Coverage dates needed:

  • August 24-28August 31-September 4

  • November 24-28

  • December 29 - January 2

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

• No overtime expected

• Active Illinois license required

• EMR: EPIC

Responsibilities:

• Review and sign out pathology cases

• Perform grossing on surgical specimens

• Work alongside two histotechs assisting with small biopsies, slide preparation, and special stains

• Answer pathology-related questions from clinicians

• Review and interpret peripheral blood smears

• Address blood bank issues including transfusion reactions

• Perform cellular adequacy checks for FNA and CT-guided biopsies

• Participate in night call coverage and respond to urgent cases as needed

Requirements:

• Board certification in Pathology

• Strong experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review

• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage caseload

• Excellent communication skills
