Job Description

Peterson Cat has a need for an Inside Sales Representative at our Clackamas, OR location. The shift for this job is Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

SUMMARY

This role is responsible for selling Caterpillar (CAT) equipment to customers and developing new business for the assigned location by handling walk-in customer sales opportunities and proactively contacting existing and prospective customers through direct and indirect channels. This position works closely with customers and internal departments to generate new business, support customer purchasing decisions, and achieve sales objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Promote and sell CAT equipment for the assigned store and/or territory, following all sales processes and procedures.
• Respond to the needs of walk-in customers and prospects.
• Proactively contact existing and prospective customers using a provided list of accounts, including a minimum of 80 outbound phone contacts per week.
• Identify and develop new prospects in the territory.
• Update and maintain customer profiles, equipment lists, leads, activities, sales transactions, and other information within Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
• Collaborate with Sales, Parts, and Service departments to ensure customer needs are satisfied.
• Present equipment quotes and finance options for active and prospective customers.
• Complete sales documentation, including finance contracts.
• Provide informational brochures and other literature to inform customers and influence buying decisions.
• Inform customers of new product developments.
• Present equipment features and benefits to customers and determine additional information needed to meet the customer’s specific needs.
• Provide written summaries of cost and equipment feature benefits to customers by purchasing CAT equipment compared to similar competition, when appropriate.
• Stay current on CAT and competitor products to offer the best solutions based on customer interests and concerns.
• Partner with sales management to ensure marketing campaigns are relevant.
• Assist with customer surveys as needed.
• Work safely at all times, adhering to all applicable safety and company policies, procedures and standards.
• Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college; and a minimum of one (1) year of directly related sales experience, preferably in the heavy equipment industry; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
