Job Description: Cook- AM

Cook Job Summary: The AM Cook collaborates with Meals-On-Wheels, the café, and in-patients to prepare and produce requested recipes and meals based upon the menus provided by the Director of Dietary. Monitors food production and inventory to prevent waste or additional food storage. Other duties as assigned.

Cook Shift Availability:

• Full Time

  • 7:30am-4:00pm

Cook Essential Accountabilities:

• Reviews menus for Meals-On-Wheels and hospital meals to prepare and organize services in a timely manner.

• Initiates production of all meals and can delegate and prioritize tasks as needed.

• Monitors inventory of goods and reports any shortages or surpluses of goods to the Director of Dietary to prevent food waste and to meet consumer demands.

• Executes and maintains a clean workspace to ensure a food safe environment.

• Coordinates and assists other kitchen staff with meal preparation to ensure a productive and structured team.

• Analyzes upcoming menus to determine output of goods and materials.

• Operates and monitors kitchen appliances to maintain temperature, environment, and food storage safety and prevent food waste.

• Assists in organizing and arranging delivered goods to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.

• Works well under pressure and can multitask.

Cook Other Skills:

• Works well in a team setting.

• Abilities to perform using basic math skills.

• Implements effective communication skills.

Cook Qualifications:

• Education/Licensure/Certifications:

  • Some High schooling; must be at least 16 years of age, 18+ to operate kitchen equipment.

• Experience:

  • Minimal/no experience

• Age-Specific Skills: N/A

• Discretion/Latitude/Decision -Making: N/A

• Hazardous Working Conditions: OSHA Category 3

• Environmental Surroundings:

  • Potential exposure to airborne diseases. The same as for any individual working in a hospital environment that is dependent on a ceiling ventilation system for in flow and out flow of air. Regular exposure to moderate physical discomfort from fumes or odors, extreme temperatures, loud noises, and bright lights.
