The shift is nights, working three 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. The nurse will handle a patient ratio of 1:5. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. On-call duties are rare but may be needed for the first four hours. Floating between like units may be necessary based on facility needs. The nurse should possess a minimum of two years of experience in MS/Tele. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. Certifications required include BLS and ACLS, with NIHSS preferred. Special requirements include experience with the Epic charting system. Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All time off requests must be included at the time of application. The facility allows for one canceled shift every two weeks. During hurricane season, all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams. Travelers should be aware that this season runs from June through November. The daily census in the unit typically accommodates a range of patient age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The unit is supported by various interdisciplinary teams for enhanced patient care. Key skills needed for the role include telemetry monitoring, managing dysrhythmias, and administering blood products. The position may also involve the care and management of various medical devices and procedures.
