Job Description The Trade Compliance Specialist ensures organisational compliance with trade laws and import/export regulations across a designated region of operations, product portfolio, or within a particular business unit. The Specialist ensures the effective flow of traded goods across international borders specific to the United States of America while adhering to regulatory requirements within the designated geographic region. This position requires a combination of regulatory knowledge, logistical expertise, and strong communication skills to effectively manage import/export activities, ensure process and data effectiveness, and support international trade operations. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily. Provide daily operational and compliance support for import and export processes of traded goods within a specific country or region Administer free-trade agreement programs, including regular reviews of entry documentation and maintenance of tariff codes and country-of-origin (COO) data Maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure compliance with trade regulations and minimize the risk of penalties or fines Maintain organized and accurate trade records, update internal databases, and ensure activities align with established corporate policies, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for general trade compliance and customs relations, including tariffs and VAT, training and educating cross‑functional stakeholders throughout the organization Interpret and apply trade regulations from various global agencies such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and World Trade Organization (WTO) Assist with trade compliance projects relating to cost‑avoidance programmes, duty drawback, free‑trade agreements, and preferential origin Complete or assist in applications of supporting documentation for export, import, shipping, and receiving processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with trade laws and country regulations Stay updated on changes in international trade laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to the appropriate stakeholders within the organization Liaise with customs officials to facilitate the clearance of shipments, including handling of import/export documentation and potential issue resolution during the clearance process Provide regular updates and reporting on key data and metrics to functional leadership; alert management to discrepancies and trends Perform other duties as required, or assigned by management, to meet business needs Adhere to company Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policy Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Customs, International Trade, Logistics, or related field—or an equivalent combination of applicable education and relevant work experience Proven experience, ideally 3 or more years, in regulatory trade compliance, U.S. import/export operations, and customs brokerage Proven track record of achieving refunds through documented trade compliance tools Prior experience organising and analysing product and customer sales data through an ERP system Demonstrated knowledge of export control and international trade concepts Demonstrated ability to identify and describe parts, machines, and components in detail to completely and accurately support classification determinations in accordance with applicable regulations Strong knowledge of export administration, customs valuation, product classifications, country-of-origin requirements, and tariff codes Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate to external partners and all levels of an organization Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including advanced knowledge of Excel Preferred Qualifications Previous work experience with the IFS ERP system and associated MRP data Working knowledge of Lean techniques and tools Prior work experience in a life sciences/biotech organization Broader supply chain knowledge and warehouse experience Professional certification in customs compliance or trade regulations, including Licensed Customs Broker (LCB), Certified Export Specialist (CES), Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Engineering or other technical degree Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as customs brokerage systems and trade compliance software Competencies & Behaviours Resonate and operate in line with LGC’s core value behaviours: Passion, Curiosity, Integrity, Brilliance, and Respect A strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement Demonstrated excellent planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work well in a team environment, possess an ability to adapt to change in the environment, and exhibit a proven ability to exert influence in a directive and positive manner Demonstrated autonomy: ability to self‑start and drive whilst recognising the appropriate time for stakeholder engagement Extensive problem‑solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and develop dynamic solutions that produce deliverables and meet business objectives Adaptable and willing to take on multiple new tasks and responsibilities while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks within a dynamic work environment Results‑driven and process‑oriented, ensuring targets are met on time and on budget Promote cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and deliverables Additional Information The typical pay range for this role is: Minimum: $74,000 USD per year Maximum: $90,000 USD per year This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for the position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as experience, skills, and location.
