District School NurseWith supervision by the administrator for student support services, or other superintendent designee, the district school nurse provides services, education, leadership, and information related to health.Education: Bachelor's Degree, including courses required to meet school nurse certification; Public Health Nursing Certificate; and valid California School Nurse Services Credential.Certification: Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse Certificate, Health Services Credential, Pediatric First Aid Trainer Certificate. Must possess a valid driver's license and personal car for use on district business.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students and community; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Experience in public schools, children's health, or community health services is required.Serves as resource for any health related issue in the district; interprets health-related reports.Develop plans to provide and enhance district health services, programs and activities; identifies and develops applications for alternative funding sources as appropriate.Develops, promotes, implements, and disseminates information on programs and services that meet existing or newly identified needs of children, families, and staff. Assists parents and pupils to identify and utilize appropriate health and social service delivery systems and address social, financial, transportation, and other barriers to obtaining needed services.Provides training and information regarding district health related practices, policies, and responsibilities to staff, students, and community members.Serves as resource to teachers, administrators, and community in implementing health instruction curriculum for students and their families.Implements, coordinates, and assures student age-appropriate health screenings (hearing, scoliosis, dental, vision, and other legally required health screenings) in accordance with state law.Identifies students with health care needs. Designs and implements health maintenance plans to meet the individual health needs of the students.Communicates with the Health Department regarding contagious or suspected contagious disease.Maintains records and prepares health-related reports as required.Participates with site principal to eliminate, minimize, or accept health challenges that may interfere with students' academic, social, and physical success in the district.Serves as district's liaison for health-related issues with community groups, government agencies, professional organizations, physicians and other health services entities.Participates in meetings with district staff and outside agencies as necessary to coordinate comprehensive health services for district students.Supports the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process for heath-related student needs.Serve as a resource for schools during health emergencies; administers first aid as needed; provides training in first aid to employees.Serves as a key person in preparing, implementing, and training personnel about the district emergency or disaster plan. Serves as a resource to school-site staff in school safety planning.Conducts immunization programs in accordance with state law.Explores and assists in addressing health-related attendance problems.Creates and implements a plan that focuses on eliminating and monitoring pediculosis.Maintains current knowledge, skills, and expertise in health, child development, and nutrition.Salary: $90,253 - $119,224 per year based on 11 steps. Additional $1,500 annually for Master's degree, additional $2,750 annually for Doctorate degree.Screening Procedures: Review of applications and personal interviews.Filing Deadline: March 30, 2026 at 4:00 pm, or until filled.Other Comments: Requires TB test and fingerprinting.
