Join Our Dynamic PICU Team as a Night Nurse!

Job Description:


- Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Number of Beds: 8
- Average Census: 2
- Certifications Required: BLS, PALS
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
- Electronic Medical Record System: Cerner
- Charge Nurse: Rarely present
- Nurse Aides: None
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 2 out of 3 holidays
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Telemetry: Spacelab tele monitors (nurses must interpret own strips)
- Ventilation: Yes
- In-House Pediatric Hospitalist Intensivist: Available 24/7
- Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 available
- Pharmacy Services: 24/7 available
- Call Requirement: Standby if census is low/scheduled
- Shifts: 7 AM & 7 PM
- Floating: To general pediatrics & burn unit for non-burn care; NICU travelers are first to float
- Orientation: 2 shifts in PICU, 1 shift in pediatrics, 1 shift in burn
- Common Diagnoses: Respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, suicide attempts, overdoses, poisonings, ventilated patients, diabetic ketoacidosis
- Common Medications for Drips: Insulin, sedative agents, heparin; occasional vasopressin, norepinephrine, epinephrine, electrolyte replacements
- Additional Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience; use of Medfusion pumps
