Scope:

The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) is a hands-on problem-solving role within the Global Supply Chain Data Analytics & Data Science team at CooperSurgical. The Sr. BA is a practical supply chain analytics owner who can solve immediate business problems using Excel, quick queries, and lightweight reporting solutions, while moving recurring needs toward scalable Power BI and SQL-based solutions.

In Power BI, the Sr. BA connects to approved data sources, transforms data, and builds scalable, low-maintenance reporting solutions. This role is responsible for identifying, diagnosing, and solving Supply Chain process and data challenges using the appropriate mix of analytics tools, source-system knowledge, and practical business judgment. The Sr. BA independently delivers advanced reporting, operational analysis, and decision-support tools, improves data quality, and drives continuous improvement through actionable insights. This role serves as a key support and enhancement owner for reporting products used globally.

The Sr. BA balances speed and scalability, delivering quick, simple solutions such as Excel tools, quick queries, reconciliations, and lightweight dashboards to unblock the business, while designing robust, automated, and scalable analytics products for long-term stability.

As a senior contributor, the Sr. BA serves as a technical mentor, coaching Business Analysts on data modeling, DAX best practices, visualization standards, QA, documentation, and report lifecycle management to improve team capability and delivery quality. The Sr. BA collaborates with team members, share knowledge with peers, and continues to build capability in data modeling, DAX, visualization, and reporting lifecycle management.

Job Summary:

The Sr. BA brings working knowledge of Supply Chain process expertise (such as planning, inventory, manufacturing, logistics, service levels and uses that knowledge to translate ambiguous business problems into actionable insights and solutions. The Sr. BA is a member of the Global Supply Chain Analytics & Data Science team and primarily supports Global Supply Chain by defining business requirements, translating needs into scalable analytics solutions, and driving operational improvements through reporting, KPI frameworks, and insights. The Sr. BA collaborates closely with other team members and partners broadly across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, R&D, IT, and Global Management. The Sr. BA provides advanced break-fix support for global reporting products, proactively identifies root causes, and leads improvements to prevent recurrence.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

• Applies a "right tool for the problem" mindset, leveraging Excel, SQL, or Power BI depending on speed, complexity, and long-term needs.
• Build interim/manual solutions (Excel models, Power Query transformations, quick extracts, reconciliations, and SQL queries) to solve urgent business problems while designing future-state automation.
• Investigates process and data issues and works with business and technical partners to identify root causes.
• Simplifies complex problems into clear, actionable outputs for business stakeholders.
• Drives transition from manual → semi-automated → fully automated solutions.
• Develops, enhances, and maintains BI solutions and reporting using Power BI (including DAX), SAP BusinessObjects (preferred), and Excel/VBA.
• Designs and maintains Power BI semantic models and datasets, improving usability, performance, and refresh reliability.
• Conducts data validation, reconciliation, and QA to ensure accuracy and trust in reporting outputs.
• Reconciles KPIs and metrics against ERPs and other source systems; investigates variances and documents findings.
• Performs analysis to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities; translates insights into practical recommendations.
• Leads requirements gathering workshops; documents functional specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Provides reporting support (break-fix), including issues triage, root cause analysis, and resolution documentation; escalates complex issues when appropriate.
• Manages assigned reporting initiatives and enhancements simultaneously, including intake, prioritization, scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and stakeholder communications; maintains a structured backlog of enhancements and new requests.
• Collaborates with Data Engineering/IT to define data requirements, improve pipeline reliability, resolve data issues, and ensure governed datasets support reporting needs end-to-end.
• Provides timely ad hoc analysis and reporting support; documents logic/assumptions and converts recurring requests into standardized reporting where appropriate.
• Collaborates within the Global Supply Chain Analytics & Data Science team to standardize KPI definitions, improve data literacy, and increase adoption of self-service reporting.
• Supports continuous improvement initiatives with business leaders and process owners.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Advanced Excel skills required, including complex formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, data validation, reconciliation, scenario analysis, and creation of maintainable operational tools. VBA/macros are a plus.
• Intermediate proficiency in Power BI and DAX with experience in report design, data modeling, visualization, and performance optimization.
• SAP BusinessObjects experience is a strong asset.
• Experience working with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or comparable systems is beneficial.
• Working proficiency with SQL is strongly preferred; familiarity with Python/VBA is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills: ability to learn complex processes and understand key data flows and identify improvement opportunities.
• Experience using ERP systems or other operational systems to perform data validation, transaction-level reconciliation, and root-cause investigation between source systems and reporting outputs.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing competing priorities and communicating status, risk, and tradeoffs.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, including working with Data Engineering and IT to define data needs, troubleshoot reporting or data issues.
• Strong communication skills: ability to distill complex data into clear, concise insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
• High attention to detail and data quality; consistent track record of meeting commitments.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English required.

• Act as a bridge between business and technical teams, ensuring solutions are both usable and sustainable.
• Collaborate primarily with Global Supply Chain stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into actionable analytics and reporting plans.
• Build and improve dashboards and KPI frameworks supporting operational efficiency, inventory visibility, demand planning, and service levels.
• Lead reporting initiatives through the full lifecycle, including intake, discovery, requirements, build, QA/UAT, release, training, adoption, and iterative enhancement.
• Implement improvements that reduce manual effort, improve reliability, and increase stakeholder self-service capability.
• Coordinate with Data Engineering/IT on source system integration, dataset design, refresh reliability, and data quality controls; validate end-to-end lineage from source to dashboard.
• Support intake and prioritize enhancements and ad hoc requests and help identify repeatable solutions for frequent asks.
• Maintain stakeholder alignment by communicating scope, timelines, dependencies, and release cadence; communicate status and risks proactively.

Travel: Up to 10% domestic travel may be required to support cross-functional collaboration, operational reviews, or analytics workshops.

Qualifications

Experience:

Required:

• 3-5 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, business analysis or related roles.
• Experience or strong knowledge in Supply Chain (inventory, planning, manufacturing/operations, logistics, or service levels).
• Experience building operational Excel-based tools, reconciliations, trackers, or semi-automated reporting solutions for business users.

Education:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in IT, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Data/Analytics, Programming, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar (or equivalent experience).


Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification or equivalent training
• Microsoft Excel certification or advanced Excel training
• Data Visualization training
• PMP or agile project management training

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $100,000.00 - $110,000.00. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
