BUSINESS UNIT: TERMINALS Kinder Morgan is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, providing a strong, reliable network of 144 terminals serving our customers’ storage, distribution, blending and logistical needs. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products. We have a combined liquids storage capacity of approximately 151 million barrels and handle about 59 million tons of dry bulk materials annually. Monitor SCADA equipment to remotely control the safe operation of multiple pipelines, pump stations, valves, gathering systems and terminals in accordance with DOT, OSHA, and Kinder Morgan regulations, policies and procedures. Level of position will be based on education and experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilize Kinder Morgan’s SCADA systems and processes for monitoring and control of the Product Pipelines controlled by the Houston Control Center Respond, anticipate and make assessments for any abnormal conditions encountered on the pipelines. Respond to emergency situations as outlined in the Emergency Response Plan. Communicate critical information to Field Operations personnel and Management in a timely fashion. Monitor pipeline pressures, flow rates and other SCADA information for leak detection purposes. Coordinate the fulfillment of confirmed nominations with Field Operations personnel, and third party point operators. Ensure accuracy of and adherence to schedules, batch sizes and confirmed nominations. Manage schedules; emphasizing efficiencies such as unit selection and power optimization. Monitor incoming/outgoing volumes. Monitor product quality. Monitor facilities for power and/or communications failure. Ensure smooth transition of shift turnovers through verbal and written communication. Ensure ongoing improvement through evaluation of current processes. Perform other pipeline related duties as assigned. Write effectively, and understand verbal and written communications including, but not limited to, email. Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism. Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills, and listen carefully. Maintain a regular, dependable attendance record, and high level of job performance. Maintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public. Work non-traditional hours (12-hour shift rotation is required to maintain a 24x7x365 operation); work schedule change may occur with little advance notice. Holidays/weekends/nights included. Occasional unscheduled overtime may be required and is anticipated. Infrequent travel outside the job location is required.
