RN Med-Surg Telemetry

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will primarily provide skilled nursing care on the 1S Observation unit, with additional responsibilities floating to other Medical-Surgical units such as Respiratory, Stroke, Cardiac, and potentially the Emergency Department if qualified. This role requires expertise in telemetry and Med-Surg nursing, proficiency with the Epic EMR system, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. The nurse will work 36 hours per week on day shifts, supporting patient assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care on the 1S Observation unit and float to other Med-Surg units as needed.
• Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and implement treatment plans.
• Monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms, ensuring accurate interpretation and response.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient information accurately in the Epic EMR system.
• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to maintain patient safety and quality of care.
• Occasionally assist in the Emergency Department if appropriately skilled.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 3 years recent experience in Telemetry and Medical-Surgical nursing.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR system (no refresher or 1:1 training available).
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
• Ability to accurately read telemetry and BCRA; competency will be tested on day one.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in Emergency Department settings.
• Additional certifications related to specialty nursing areas.

Special Considerations:

• Employment start date limited to November 16th unless returning Genesis traveler within 9 months.
• Competency in Epic EMR and telemetry reading is mandatory; failure to demonstrate skills results in immediate termination.
• On-call duties are very rare.
• Floating to various units including Med-Surg and possibly ED is required.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week.
• Day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Every other weekend required.
