Coordinator of Special Education - Special Ed/Psy Instructional Services Job ID: 103548 Job Code: Coord Sp Ed - 020040 Standard Hours: 40 Department: Sp Ed/Psy Instructional Srvcs - 221200 Empl Class: NA Scheduled Days: 245 Target Openings: 2 Minimum Salary: $84,075.00/Annually Maximum Salary: $121,971.00/Annually License and Certification Qualifications Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Education Qualifications Master's Degree in related field Experience Qualifications 5 years of successful teaching or other related experience in special education Supervisory/leadership experience (Preferred) Skills Qualifications Effective leadership skills Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and materials/equipment in program area Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws governing special education Ability to work successfully with colleagues Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to project and generate positive attitudes Primary Responsibilities Provide systemwide leadership for all special education program areas, including overall program development and the evaluation of programs for the Department of Special Education and Psychological Services Facilitate and evaluate the delivery of effective and appropriate instruction to students with disabilities Lead and guide curriculum development for special education program areas and cluster areas Develop and facilitate the delivery of appropriate professional learning opportunities in the areas of special education programs, due process, research-based and evidence-based instruction methodologies, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) compliance Guide and support local school Individual Education Program (IEP) teams, teachers, parents, and administrators with planning, dispute resolution, monitoring, and compliance Make recommendations for class locations, personnel assignments, budgetary needs, class formation, materials, and equipment for program area and cluster area classes Manage the collection of data and meet deadlines for required information and data reporting Act as the special education department's communication liaison with all internal and external stakeholders Analyze and disseminate student performance data by program and cluster area and make recommendations for increasing student achievement Provide continuous quality improvement to departmental processes Perform continuous evaluation of special education quality and effectiveness and recommend methods to improve operations Complete special projects as needed Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include working with electricity, working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and use of chemicals and solvents.
