JOB SUMMARY
Under direction of the Director of Food Services aids with the planning, organizing, and direction of all activities of the district's nutrition services program. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
Work is typically performed in the central office and throughout the division. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 20 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds may be required. Other limited physical activities are required. Travel to schools throughout the division and central office is required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment exposes the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members, administrators, and parents is required. Contact with others by phone and in person is necessary. Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all CCPS employees. To ensure adequate staffing, positive employee morale, and to meet expected productivity standards throughout the organization, employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule. EVALUATION:
The supervisor will evaluate performance on the ability and effectiveness in carrying out the above responsibilities.

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:
- Assist in planning, developing, and supervising district-wide food service operations and nutritional programs;
- Assume departmental leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director;
- Supervise kitchen operations during the absence of kitchen managers when needed;
- Interview and select candidates for employment within the food services department;
- Manage procurement documentation and bid processes for the department;
- Participate in personnel recommendations and resolution of employee matters in accordance with division policies;
- Provide leadership and support to site managers to train, develop, and retain highly competent staff;
- Assist with monthly payroll, journal entries, benefits, and related administrative functions;
- Review and analyze cafeteria daily sales and over/short reports to ensure operational accuracy and accountability;
- Preform menu planning to ensure compliance with federal and state Child Nutrition Department guidelines;
- Implement cycle menus, nutrient analysis, menu planning guidelines, preparation standards, serving guidelines, and food/product development consistently;
- Attend conferences, meetings, and professional development events as directed; and
- Performs other assigned
- Associate degree preferred in Food Service Management, Business Management, or a closely related field or Minimum of five years of food service supervisory experience required
- Experience within a school child nutrition program preferred
- Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment, including microcomputers, word processors, and required software, calculators, business arithmetic and English.
- Ability to prepare spreadsheets and Power Points.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Access.
- Ability to process correspondence, maintain clerical records, and prepare reports.
- Ability to make decisions in accordance with regulations and policies.
- Ability to communicate openly and effectively with students, parents, community patrons, staff, and administration as a positive representative for Culpeper County School system.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with all employees and the public.
- Ability to work independently without supervision and be able to supervise others when required.
- Ability to demonstrate professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions within the school and within the community.
- Ability to dress in such manner as to command the respect of parents, teachers, and pupils.
- Ability to physically perform duties specific to the job assignment with or without accommodations.
- Be able to follow written and oral directions.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing child nutrition programs
- Knowledge of nutrition principles related to feeding school-age children
- Knowledge of cafeteria and food service management principles
- Knowledge with sanitation and safety practices for handling, cooking, baking, and serving food
- Ability to organize and manage food service operations effectively
- Ability to evaluate food products, supplies, and equipment
- Be recommended by the division superintendent and appointed by the school board.
