Facilities Manager

Position Title: Facilities Manager – Full time – 30 hours a week Christ our King Parish, Mt. Pleasant Position Summary: The Facilities Manager is responsible for maintaining and repairing the buildings, grounds, and equipment of our parish. This role requires a versatile individual with a broad range of basic trade skills to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming. Classification: Non-Exempt Reports To: Maureen Preston, Finance Director Essential Job Functions Perform routine inspections of premises and equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance procedures on building systems. Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks across multiple trades, including: Carpentry: Repairing doors, frames, and basic woodwork. Masonry: Patching concrete, repairing brickwork. Painting: Interior and exterior surfaces as needed. Plumbing: Unclogging drains, fixing leaks, repairing toilets. Electrical: Replacing light fixtures, switches, and outlets. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and parishioners. Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs or specialized work, including scheduling appointments, obtaining bids, and ensuring contract compliance. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes. Maintain inventory of supplies and tools. Develop and execute annual and long‑term maintenance plan for buildings, including preventative maintenance schedules. Ensure all facilities are ready and properly set up for parish-hosted events, school functions (set up in Parish Life Center only) and liturgical celebrations. Work with staff and pastor as required, to assist with repairs and maintenance, which are both scheduled/preventative and on-demand. Willing to learn and take directions from the Pastor, Finance Director and Building and Grounds Committee. Required Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of experience in general maintenance or facilities management. Flexibility in scheduling for occasional irregular hours and to be on-call for emergencies (such as equipment failures or urgent repairs). Working knowledge of various trade skills (carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.). Ability to use hand and power tools safely. Strong problem‑solving and time‑management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for our parish community. Proactive, detail‑oriented, and committed to the upkeep of our facilities. Good mechanical ability. Skill in the use of basic hand and electric tools and familiarity with parts and materials is required. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements The candidate must be able to work in hot, cold and wet conditions. A valid driver's license is required. This position involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands and feet, climbing/balancing, stopping/kneeling/crouching/crawling and reaching above shoulders at least 1/3 of the time. Must be able to safely assist with moving, positioning, and handling loads weighing up to 200 pounds using proper lifting techniques, mechanical equipment, and team assistance as needed. Ability to assess, balance, and secure loads while following all safety procedures is required. Independent lifting of 200 pounds is not required. The use of ladders and climbing up to 30 feet. Grasping, lifting and holding tools with good dexterity is required. Must have the ability to perform duties in confined spaces and awkward positions.
